An Intentional Space
for Integrated Living

The Thriving Community offers an intentional environment where encounter with God is cultivated through teaching and guided experiences. These shared rhythms support lives that grow more integrated and increasingly oriented toward God, not in abstraction, but within the patterns of everyday life.

The primary ways of engaging this space are through our teaching and guided experiences.

Engage Our Teaching

Teaching at The Thriving Community offers a steady place to engage God’s vision for human life and to consider how it speaks into the realities of daily living. Rooted in Scripture and Christian tradition, teaching invites people to hold their lives before God—allowing understanding to be shaped and reshaped over time as faith is carried into ordinary rhythms.

Current Teaching Series:

Wholeness by Design

Wholeness by Design explores God’s vision for human life and what it means to live in alignment with that design amid the realities of the modern world.

This series examines how wholeness is understood from a biblical and theological perspective.

Through exploration of this vision, we then consider God’s design for human life, how sin distorts that design and its outworking in the world today, and how God is actively restoring what has been corrupted—inviting our intentional and willing participation along the way.

Formed Toward Wholeness is the home of our teaching, hosted on Substack.

Engage Our Guided Experiences

Guided experiences create facilitated spaces to engage God, one’s whole being, and others within an environment oriented toward attentiveness and focus. These gatherings support the growth of the whole being as an integrated whole—so that encounter with God is no longer confined to a moment, but becomes a sustained way of being.

The Story Behind the Vision

Meet Joy Akwarandu

Joy Akwarandu is the founder of The Thriving Community. Her journey emerged from a tension she recognized both in herself and in others: a sincere Christian faith, genuinely held, yet not coherently shaping the whole of one’s life.

After years in the corporate world, Joy pursued theological study to better understand how faith shapes the whole person over time. That discernment gave rise to The Thriving Community—an intentional environment shaped by the conviction that relationship with God is meant to orient how life is actually lived.

The women’s retreat created space for me to slow down, engage God more attentively, and be present with others in a meaningful way. Through shared practices and conversation, I experienced a deeper sense of connection—both spiritually and communally. The teaching added substance and direction to the experience.

Jessica Cruz

TTC’s teachings have deepened my understanding of several aspects of my Christian faith that I didn’t previously know about, much less understand. I always look forward to engaging in the teachings because I know I will learn something meaningful that strengthens my walk with God.
